Pakistan has large gold, copper ore deposits at Saindak in Balochistan. There are very large deposits of rock salt in the Pothohar Plateau. Pakistan's is rich in mineral resources including gypsum, limestone, chromites, iron ore, rock salt, silver, precious stones, gems, marbles, tiles, sulfur, fire clay, and silica sand.

The Toot area in district Attock is one of the oldest oil producing area in Pakistan with the first oilwell drilled in 1964. It is located in the Pothohar Plateau, Punjab Province, 135 km southwest of the capital city of Islamabad. In 1964 the first well was drilled and commercial production started in 1967. At its peak during 1986, the field was producing approximately 2,400 barrel of oil per day.
